Departed Kula Causes founder Gerrit McGowan talks strategy

‘Twas a very long night in New Jersey at the 2012 Freddie Awards, but I finally caught up with Gerrit McGowan founder and CEO of Kula Causes, an innovative charitable giving platform leveraging loyalty currency into cash donations on behalf of the world’s biggest brands and corporations.

Kula truly takes customer engagement to another level and aims to make the world a better place in the process. I tried to ask the hard questions like why Kula decided to be a for-profit facilitator of altruism and where do people’s loyalty points, and in turn, their money really go. Gerrit had much to say about that and a whole lot more about how cause marketing will not only change the world, but the way companies execute loyalty marketing.
