Passengers can now use their Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) gate-to-gate on jetBlue and Delta. The airlines both worked very closely with the FAA to meet the safety standards necessary to allow PED usage below 10,000 feet. jetBlue flight 2302 (pictured above) on 1 November 2013 was the first US commercial flight to allow gate-to-gate PED use.

Other carriers are sure to follow suit, however, they may have missed a golden opportunity to participate in the FAA’s advisory panel established several months ago to work on this issue. Delta, jetBlue and American participated on the panel and appear to be better poised to meet and evaluate the new interference tolerances set by the FAA.
