American flight makes emergency landing after side walls come loose

American Airlines Flight 2293 from San Francisco to Dallas had to make an emergency landing Monday after the plane’s wall panels began to crack loose.

Despite the scare, former U.S. Navy Pilot Robert Ditchey told the Associated Press that the inside cabin wall panels are purely cosmetic: “The plastic wall has no meaning to the safety of the plane. They are there so you don’t have to look at the bare walls.”
